OUR STORY
Waypoint is the brainchild of an Icelandic couple who decided to turn their passion into their profession.
For years, exploring Iceland has been our main drive and shaped who we are. We have crossed glaciers, climbed mountains, taken on multi-day treks, bathed in natural hot springs and driven countless roads. At Waypoint, we show you Iceland as we know it. The land we love, its nature and culture.
Aðalheiður is a licensed mountain and glacier guide and Þórður brings years of experience in Icelandic tourism and hospitality. Together we both serve as search and rescue volunteers.
We go deeper. We go slower. We go further.
Our hearts are in the mountains.

Aðalheiður Guðjónsdóttir
Aðalheiður is a licensed mountain guide with a background in mountaineering and nature conservation. She trained at Mountaineering School of Iceland and went on to specialise further through ranger-focused studies.
Alongside her work as a guide, she serves as a volunteer at ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Search and Rescue team. The work demands clarity, restraint, and sound judgement in difficult conditions.
Much of her time has been spent in the highlands and remote parts of Iceland. Long crossings, glacier travel, and seasons spent moving through exposed terrain have shaped how she works today. Her understanding of the landscape is built slowly, over time, and always in the field.
As a guide, she keeps things deliberate. Small groups. A steady pace. Space to take in the surroundings without being rushed through them. She shares what she knows when it adds value, and leaves room for the place to speak for itself. Her approach is grounded in experience, with a quiet focus on safety, flow, and being fully present in the landscape.
